The Hosting Standards

The Hosting Standards

The Hosting Standards were created to ensure quality among all individuals with the ability to host events within Sol Invictus. The standards offer hosting tips, standards, and expectations.

  • GENERAL STANDARDS
    • All individuals with the ability to host events should be comfortable, confident, and capable. Hosts must ensure that all events abide by the following standards to ensure that community events stay positive, fun, engaging, and drama-free for the betterment of the community.
  • GENERAL HOST STANDARDS:
    • Condemned Actions:
      • Actions that tarnish the quality and reputation of the host and event, while also rendering the event unenjoyable for the general membership.
        • Abusive Behavior
          • Actions that could be deemed overly aggressive, demanding, or controlling without proper reason.
        • Lack Of Direction
          • Events or actions taken during an event that cause it to stall out or lose its purpose, leading attendees stuck wondering what to do, where to go, or who to listen to.
  • GENERAL PLANNING STANDARDS:
    • Event Planning Structure
      • Intent
        • All events should be beneficial for all the attendees. Have your platform, VC, lobby count, event type etc. planned ahead of time.
          • Intent can be anything from communal events to meetings.
      • Length
        • All events need to be within reasonable length to the event type. Different types of events can run a bit longer or shorter than another.
          • A general communal event will have a scheduled start point and may take anywhere from 30 minutes to a maximum of 5 hours, meanwhile movie nights and classes are going to have a fixed and scheduled start and finish.
          • Knowing your audience and understanding the type of event you're hosting is important when deciding how long to hold your event.
      • Scheduling
        • Communal events are to be scheduled using the Discord Events scheduling feature, tutorial linked. These events must be scheduled with the correct time, VC, and with a banner to go along with the event.
          • A banner example would be using the game banner for "The Forest" if you were hosting a "The Forest" game night.
          • Discord scheduling still applies the same to House events. If you put in the right VC, then only House members will be able to join the event.
          • Events can only be pre-shouted in the "Sol-Events" Channel if you have the role of Events Host.
        • Meetings, classes, and other administrative events will still be scheduled using the Google Calendar on the Sol Invictus website.

  • GENERAL MEMBERSHIP STANDARDS:
    • All attendees of any event should practice the following:
        • Involvement:
          • Actively engaged with the event.
        • Composure:
          • Appropriate behavior to the event’s formality.
      • Event attendees should never engage in conflict with one another at an event. This disrupts the entire event and leads to it being tarnished for the rest of the attendees and the event host.
        • Attendees causing/engaging in conflict at an event are liable to transgressions, demotions, or removal from Sol entirely.
  • GENERAL EVENT TYPE STANDARDS:
    • Hosts have free reign to host on whichever platform they can find membership to engage with, so long as the platform stays away from NSFW environments, and the host is able to conduct a positive event that is fun for all of the attendees.
